Situ.art and WallMockup compared

WallMockup is a browser editor for wall art listings, with 720 room scenes, 54 frame styles, gallery walls of up to 24 pieces and AI rooms built around your art. Situ.art is built for the image looking like a photograph: every room has its own light, so the shadows and the frame’s shading follow it with nothing to set, frames come in any colour and finish, and your work hangs in every room at once, free.

Prices and features checked 27 October 2026, as published on WallMockup’s own site, in its own currency.

How realistic, detail by detail

The details that make a mockup pass for a photograph, as WallMockup’s own site describes them, against what Situ.art does.

WallMockupSitu.art
Lighting“Choose room type, style, and lighting.”Each room has its own light, and everything on the wall is lit by it, with nothing to choose. With AI you can also change the room’s lighting, mood or colour scheme, from morning light to an evening glow.
Shadows“Fine-tune shadow angle and depth for realism.”Shadows fall away from the room’s light, behind the frame and across the wall, without adjusting. AI turns them into natural shadows in one tap.
Perspective“Walls, lighting, and perspective feel authentic.”Straight-on rooms, plus rooms with angled views of the same wall, the work drawn in its perspective.
Frame styles“54 frame styles”, in a set of finishes: black, white, natural wood and gold.Thousands of combinations: slim, box or floating, flat or moulded, in wood, painted or metallic finishes, in any colour, 1 to 6 cm wide.
How the frame looks“Photorealistic wood, metal & matted frames.”Drawn with depth, wood grain, rims and mitred corners, and shaded by the room’s light on the side that faces it.
CanvasesNot mentioned on its site.Box frames, and floating frames with a gap round the canvas and its rolled edge showing.
Mats“Optional mats with adjustable size.”A window mount with a bevelled edge, or a float mount, in any colour and width.
Shaped worksNot mentioned on its site.Shadows follow the outline of a cut-out image, a round canvas or a shaped panel, lit by the room, instead of a rectangle behind it.
Scale“Every scene is measured, so the print shows at the size you sell.”The same: the work hangs at its size, at a natural height, in every room.
Your artworkIn AI rooms the artwork is “never sent to the AI model” and is “composited back in after generation”.Room images draw your work from your own image, never redrawn. AI edits change the scene and can touch the painting; Restore puts your original back on an image of one work.
Close-upsNot mentioned on its site.Where a room allows, a closer view is drawn from your own image, so the brushwork stays sharp.
Download sizeExports “up to 4×” on the trial, “full-resolution” on Pro, no pixel sizes given. AI rooms up to 4K.2048 px, or 4096 px (4K) room images with 4K downloads on. AI images at 2K.
Rooms“720 room scenes.”730+, your work in all of them at once.

Where WallMockup is stronger

  • Bigger gallery walls: “Plan and place up to 24 pieces in one room”. Situ.art hangs up to 8.
  • In its AI rooms the artwork is never sent to the AI and is composited back in afterwards; Situ.art’s AI edits can touch the painting, and Restore puts it back by hand. Its AI rooms also go up to 4K.
  • PNG and WEBP exports on Pro. Situ.art downloads JPGs.
  • A cheaper paid plan: $4.99 a month, against £9 for Situ.art’s Artist plan.

Where Situ.art is stronger

  • Light from the room itself: shadows and the frame’s shading follow each room’s own light, with no shadow angle or depth to set.
  • Frames in any colour, not a set of finishes: slim, box or floating, flat or moulded, in wood, painted or metallic, with box and floating frames for canvases.
  • Mounts in any colour and width, as a window or a float mount.
  • Every room at once: your work hangs in 730+ rooms straight away, so you pick the room that suits it in seconds.
  • Free to start, with no trial clock: 730+ rooms with a free account and clean downloads. WallMockup has a 7-day trial.
  • AI that edits the scene: add people, furniture, another angle or natural shadows. WallMockup’s site describes AI rooms.
  • Close-ups that keep every brushstroke, and video in three shapes for Reels, the feed and square posts.
  • Used by Richard Green, the London gallery, for its Instagram posts, and by 1,000+ artists and galleries a month.

Which should you choose?

Choose WallMockup if you sell prints and plan gallery walls of more than eight pieces, or want the cheapest paid plan. Choose Situ.art if you want the image to look like a photograph: each room’s own light on the shadows and the frame, frames in any colour and finish, and your work in every room at once, free.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to WallMockup?
Yes. WallMockup has a 7-day trial, then plans from $4.99 a month. Situ.art is free to start: 50+ rooms with no account, 730+ with a free one, and no watermark on any download.
Which is more realistic, Situ.art or WallMockup?
Both hang the work at its size. Situ.art takes the light from each room, so the shadows and the frame’s shading match the window with nothing to adjust, and its frames are drawn with depth and grain in any colour. The table above goes through it detail by detail.
Can I choose any frame colour?
Yes. Frames come in wood, painted or metallic finishes in any colour, slim, box or floating, 1 to 6 cm wide, with a window or float mount in any colour. WallMockup offers its frames in a set of finishes.
Does Situ.art download in 4K?
Yes, for room images: switch on 4K downloads in Settings and they download at 4096 px, your work drawn from your own image. AI images are 2K. WallMockup’s AI rooms go to 4K; its site gives no pixel size for its other exports.
Can I hang several works together?
Yes. Hang up to 8 works (two without an account) together, each at its true size, and every room lays them out to fit its wall. WallMockup plans walls of up to 24 pieces in one room.
How much does Situ.art cost after the free plan?
Artist is £9 a month and Pro £29 a month, less billed annually. Nothing on the free plan needs a card.
Will AI change my artwork?
Room images never do: your work is drawn from your own image. AI only runs when you ask it to change the scene, and it can sometimes repaint the work; on an image of one work, Restore puts your original back in one tap.
