Choose your gallery’s look

Three designs, each modelled on how leading galleries present an artist. Switch between them any time, and try all three free in Preview.

An artist's website in the Iris design
Iris. Your name beside your cover work on a pale grey band, with the sections across the top.
An artist's website in the Nora design
Nora. Your name set large beside the cover work, with your About straight below it.
An artist's website in the Vera design
Vera. Your name small at the top, then the works themselves, large, with their captions.

What each work shows

A visitor taps a work and it opens over the page, with its own link to send. Its views, in order:

  1. The work alone. Whole, on a quiet grey ground with a soft shadow, as a gallery shows a work first.
  2. In a room. Hung at its true size in a room it fits: the one you last downloaded it in, or one that suits its size.
  3. A close-up. A detail of the surface, filling the view, when your photo is large enough to stay sharp.
  4. Beside a person. On a plain wall at eye level, next to a standing figure, so its size reads at a glance. Left out when the room already has someone in it.
  5. A walk-through video. The camera walks past the work hung in a gallery, drawn live in the visitor’s browser.

Every view but the video opens full screen, with zoom.

Beside it, the details a buyer looks for

In the order galleries list them: the title in italics with the year, the medium, the size in centimetres with inches beside it, the framed size when it’s framed, signed, and Available or Sold. Each shows only once you’ve filled it in, and Inquire sits underneath.

Why show art in a room

A photo of a painting on its own doesn’t say how big it is. A 30 cm study and a 150 cm canvas look the same on a phone. Hanging each work in a room, next to furniture and a person, answers that before a buyer has to ask.

What you do

  1. Upload your works with their sizes. If you use Situ.art for room mockups, they’re already there.
  2. Add your name, one line about you (“Painter · London”), an About, and a link to your site, Instagram or email.
  3. Make it public at situ.art/en/yourname, and put the link in your Instagram bio.

After that it keeps itself up to date: each work you upload appears on it, and you can hide any work, choose the cover, or switch the site back to private.

Kept out of AI training

Your pages tell AI training crawlers, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot and others, to stay out. You don’t switch anything on. Search engines, and the assistants that search the web for people, can still read your pages, so buyers can still find you.

What it doesn’t do

  • No domain of your own: your website is at situ.art/en/yourname.
  • No shop or checkout, blog or newsletter, and no pages beyond your works and About.
  • Up to 30 works on the Artist plan; Pro (£29 a month) has no limit.

Questions

Is there a website builder for artists that shows paintings in a room?
Yes. A Situ.art website shows every work you’ve uploaded hung in a room at its true size, beside a person for scale and in a walk-through video, made for you from the size you enter. FASO has a View in Room on its Silver plan and up; general builders like Squarespace and Wix show the photos you upload.
Do I need photos of my work in rooms?
No. Upload a straight photo of the work and enter its size. Situ.art hangs it in a room at that size, beside a person, and walks a camera past it in a gallery. The work itself is never changed.
Can’t I add ArtPlacer to my Squarespace or Wix site?
You can. ArtPlacer’s website widget is an add-on on its Standard and Plus plans and included from Professional ($40 a month billed yearly, $45 monthly), on top of what you pay for the site. Each room view is one you set up, and its videos come from credits, 4 a month on Professional. They’re made by an AI model, which redraws every frame, so the painting can change. A Situ.art website already shows every work in a room at its true size, with a walk-through video for every work and no credits; it’s drawn from your upload, so the work itself is never changed.
How much does it cost?
£9 a month on the Artist plan, or £7.50 a month billed yearly, for up to 30 works; Pro (£29 a month) has no limit. The same plan makes your room mockups. You can build and preview the website free, without an account.
How do buyers get in touch?
Every work has an Inquire button. The buyer’s message comes to your email with their address to reply to, and yours is never shown. Your own link, to your site, Instagram or email, is on every page too.
Can I use my own domain?
Not yet. Your website is at situ.art/en/yourname. Put the link in your Instagram bio, your email signature or your own domain’s homepage.
Can buyers buy from it?
Not through a checkout: there’s no shop. Each work can be marked Available or Sold, and buyers reach you through Inquire, so you sell to them directly and nothing is taken from the sale.
Does it keep AI crawlers off my work?
Yes, with nothing to switch on. Your pages tell AI training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot and others) to stay out, while search engines can still find you.
Can I edit it on my phone?
Yes. Titles and details, About, your link, the cover and which works show are all edited in the browser, on a phone as on a computer.
